Sizzling Homemade Chicken Fajitas: A Step-by-Step Recipe
Ingredients
For the Marinade:
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 large onion diced
- 500 grams chicken breast
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 bell pepper sliced
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for extra heat
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tea spoon corn starch
- 8-10 flour tortillas
For the Toppings:
- Crème fraîche / or Sour cream
- Shredded cheese
- Diced tomato
- Sliced Avocado
- Lettuce
- Lime wedges
- Tabasco for extra heat
Instructions
Cook the Fajita
- Dice the Chicken breast, Slice the onion and bell peppers, mince the garlics.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until they are translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add Chicken breast to the same skillet, cook until the meat is browned, about 4-6 minutes.
- Add sliced bell pepper and minced garlic, stir fry for about 1 minute.
- Add smoked paprika, ground cumin, ground coriander, dried oregano, sugar, black pepper and salt, stir for 20 seconds.
- Add 1 teaspoon of corn starch, and some cold water to a small drinking cup, mix well.
- Add the starch water to the skillet, bring the content to boil, then reduce the heat to low, simmer for 5 minutes
- Increase the heat to high, stir until the sauce in the skillet are thickened. The fajita is ready for assemble.
Assemble the Fajitas
- Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or in the microwave.
- Spread the Crème Fraîche or sour cream on the tortillas, place some fajita in the center of each tortilla, add your toppings with shredded cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce, a squeeze of lime juice and some Tabasco. Wrap it up!
